Indoor Cat’s Guide to… Fall TV!!!
I’ve posted a lot on the shows premiering this fall, starting all the way back in May at the upfronts. Well, kiddos, the time is finally here: fall television begins tonight.
Yes, that’s right- thanks to the fine (desperate) folks at NBC, this week is the launch of the 2012-2013 television season- provided we get to 2013. Silly Mayans! Tonight, The Voice kicks off, with a 3-night extravaganza- much to the chagrin of The X Factor, which kicks off on Wednesday and was hoping to rake in the eyeballs (disturbing mental image) with the new judges, Demi Lovato and Britney Spears.
For those more into the intentional laughs of sitcoms, rather than unintentional laughs at the train-wreck auditions on reality shows, NBC is premiering new episodes of Go On and The New Normal in their regular timeslots (previews have been airing throughout the last month), and Jason Katims’ lovely Parenthood returns just in time to see Haddie head off to college and Lorelai- er, Sarah- hook up with Ray Romano. Because, obviously, between Ray Romano and Jason Ritter, you’re going to choose Ray Romano. Yep. NBC is also premiering laffer Guys With Kids on Wednesday (10/9c, though it will normally be on Wednesdays at 8:30/7:30c), which is about 3 guys, all with kids. Single dad, divorced dad and married dad. Anthony Anderson plays the married dad, so I may end up checking this one out. It seems like NBC’s red-headed sitcom stepchild this year, with next to no promos and very little hype for it in the media, so we’ll see.
The two other notable premieres this week are:
-Glee, which is moving to Thursdays on Fox at 9/8c. The premiere will focus on Rachel in New York and the glee club back in Ohio trying to replace her, thus the double meaning of the episode’s title, “The New Rachel.”
-Sons of Anarchy on FX (Tuesdays, 10/9c). I don’t really watch SOA, but I do know it should be good this year with Jax now in charge (and with Joel McHale guest starring as a con man in an upcoming episode!)
Here’s the daily calendar for premieres this week. Most of these shows can be found on Hulu the following day.
